Johnson City, TN. - D.C. Express Track Club closed out its third meet of 2012 with a strong showing at the KTC HS Invitational inside the ETSU indoor facility on Friday afternoon (January 27th) and Saturday (January 28th). Junior Chelsea Caldwell and Sophomore Angelica Henderson paced the Express in the 400 meters, respectively.
Caldwell finished 1st in the 400m with a time of (56.18). In the Express other appearance, Sophomore Angelica Henderson placed 10th (1:00.93) and Senior Shontel Stewart placed 32nd (1:05.71) in the 400m.
Junior Ray Williams rounded out the crop of top-20 finishes for D.C. Express with an 11th place finish in the 400mm (52.66) and 11th in the 800m (206.11). Shontel Stewart finished 28th in the 800m (2:43.38), while Freshman Shanel Stewart placed 27th with a time of (2:42.81).
Freshman Davin Bryant ran a pair of events on Saturday for the Express, finishing 37th in the mile (5:14.36) and 39th in the 800m (2:27.76) off his 5:05 and 2:13 from last week. Sophomore Angelica Henderson placed 12th in the 200m (26.06) and 16th in the 60m while Junior Chelsea Caldwell finished 16th in the 200m (26.24) and 15th in the 60m.
D.C. Express returns to the track on Saturday, February 18th, at the Kentucky HS Invitational in Lexington, KY and Sunday, February 19th at the USATF South Zone Championships at the Crossplex Facility in Birmingham, AL.

Statesboro, Ga. – Freshman Taylor Wade (Loganville, Ga.) was named Southern Conference (SoCon) Women’s Indoor Athlete of the Week for meets completed January 26th – February 1st, the league announced on Wednesday.
The Georgia Southern freshman took seventh in the 60 Meter Hurdles (8.95) last week at the Birmingham Invitational, and also took 16th in the pentathlon with 2792 points. These scores have placed Wade at fourth and fifth in the SoCon, respectively.
“I am very happy to see Taylor’s hard work and discipline pay off,” Said Head Coach Marlo Mincey. “ She is a tough competitor and we can expect big things from her throughout the seasons.
